Lime Light Cafe at 8 Castle St in Hamilton offers a distinctive blend of cafe culture with a twist—it's not just a spot for breakfast or light bites, but also serves as a local dance school, creating a lively and community-oriented atmosphere. This combination means you can often find a mix of early risers grabbing a hot breakfast or afternoon visitors lingering over sandwiches amidst an energetic backdrop of activity.

The cafe side draws locals who appreciate traditional Scottish breakfast staples done well, with highlights like the sausage scone and black pudding earning praise for their quality and preparation. The menu stretches beyond breakfast, accommodating later hours when many nearby places have switched to takeaway or limited options. Visitors enjoy the continued availability of a full menu well into the late afternoon, making it a practical choice for those needing a reliable meal past the usual lunch cutoff.

The setting is busy but welcoming, with staff who manage flow efficiently, especially during peak times. This creates an environment that feels both social and unhurried, a place where residents might pop in multiple times a week, whether for a quick coffee, a milkshake fix, or a proper meal like pie and chips or tuna pasta with salad.

Evenings see a subtle shift as the dance school component kicks in, adding a different pulse to the venue. This makes Lime Light more than just a cafe—it’s a spot where neighbors gather, and the day’s rhythm blends with local movement and music activities.

Wonderful little cafe, busy but the service team was amazing and totally kept on top of orders with the efficiency of a well oiled machine. Food was just superb, highlights were hash browns being crunchy packets of fluffy potato, & the black pudding was top restaurant quality cooked to perfection. Best breakfast I’ve had in a very very long time, and not by a small margin. I’ll definitely be coming back, just to check it’s not a one-off! 11/10 - would recommend

Such a lovely cafe. The staff are great. They are so friendly and the food is fantastic. As you can see I am slightly addicted to their milkshakes. Xx
